About Nakki Lake
This Lake is situated in the Aravali ranges in Mount Abu, Rajasthan state, India. As per legend, this lake was made by deities using ‘Nakh’ (nail- in english), hence the name ‘Nakki lake’.
It is the only man made lake situated at a height of 1200 metres above the sea level. The lake is around 800 metres long, 400 metres wide and 20-30 feet deep. Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes (asthi) was immersed in this lake on 12th February 1948, and later Gandhi Ghat was constructed nearby.
