Balmuri falls is a man-made waterfall located at Srirangapatna, Mandya district (near Mysore), Karnataka State, India. Krishnahaja Sagara is built across the lives Kaveri. Balmuri waterfall (KRS) Dam is caused by a cascade of water overflowing the checkdan built accoss the river, making it one of the best picnic spot.
Balmuri is around 11kms before KRS dam. Belagola is a village between Mysore and KRS which is around 8 kms from KRS, and Balmuri is 3 kms from Belagola. The water from the dam flows and splits into two where one turns to the right (Bala) getting the name ‘Balamuri’ and the other to the left (Yeda) called ‘Yedamuri. ‘Bala – Right’ and ‘Muri – Cut’ in Kannada
The fall is just Six feet in height, and the water flows at low velocity, unlike that of a natural waterfalls. The length of Checkdam is around 1.6 km, and 3 to 4 feet wide.
