I visited Ghati Subramanya Temple on 11th August.
Planning
The previous day, later in the evening around 9:30 p.m. my son met my cousin’s son on the way back home. All of a sudden they come up with an idea of going to Ghati Subramanya Temple the next morning. As the plan of visiting the temple was made late in the evening, we thought of leaving home around 7:30 a.m. We left home at 7:30 a.m. Five of us in our car and there were four adults and a small baby (1-year-old) in the other car. Though both of us were familiar with the route, we asked them to lead us and we followed. We did a big mistake by taking RV Road. We were stuck in the traffic signal at Lalbagh. We were not able to move from there for over 20 minutes. The reason behind so much of traffic was
1 – It was a weekend
2- People go there for morning walk
3- People had come there to see arrangements being done for the Independence Day Flower show.
All of a sudden the car we were following started taking left and right turns. We thought maybe they were taking shortcuts and avoiding traffic. I hadn’t realized they would stop for breakfast so soon. They stopped at (NMH) New Modern Hotel at around 8 a.m. On our table we had ordered Idly Vada, Masala Dosa, Khara Bath, Badam Halwa and Chiroti. The speciality of this hotel is they give a bucket full of sambar. Masala Dosa was crisp and very tasty, Kara Bath was normal like other hotels, Badam Halwa and Chiroti was fresh and i really like it, We were there in the hotel for 45 minutes. We left from there at 8:45 am.
From Hotel to Temple
From NMH the drive was good. There was not much traffic to Doddaballapura. From Doddaballapur to Subramanya, the road is with slopes and curves, but full of beautiful scenery. As it was a little cloudy it was very good to feel nature. We reached Ghati Subramanya Temple exactly at 10:00 a.m. After parking the car, we ran to the queue. As the general queue was long (weekend crowd) we took ₹50 tickets and went to the special darshan. As we were standing in the Queue they closed the gates for 15 – 20 minutes. The abhisheka was over and at 10:30 they had to do Maha Mangala Arathi. There was too much of a crowd we were not able to stand there and see God’s idol for a long satisfying time. As I had seen it a number of times earlier, I could see the idol of Subramanya and Lord Lakshmi Narasimha clearly. The idol of Lakshmi Narasimha is behind ( back to back) Subramanya. That is a mirror kept at an angle so that, we can see the idol of Lord Narasimha clearly.
After Darshan
We came out of the temple. The temple priest was giving theertha ( holy water), we took the theertha and came near the Dhwaja Stambha and fell at the feet of Lord Subramanya offering prayers. On the side table they had kept Chandana as Prasad, we took it and applied on the forehead.
We came out of the temple prakara we entered into an open hall where they were distributing annaprasada. We took cups of tomato bath (tomato rice) which they were distributing as Prasad ate there and came out of the temple premises.
Shopping near temple
There are so many shops selling Pooja items in front of the temple My husband went to buy Kadlepuri (puffed rice) in one of the shops. They had kept four different varieties of kadlepuri there. Don’t forget to buy puffed rice (kadlepuri) here it is so crispy and tasty. It is different from the normal puffed rice that you get in the City. After buying this we walked towards the parking area. My son went to bring the car. We started back from Ghati Subramanya Temple around 11.30 AM.
Vegetable shopping
After going approximately one kilometer, on the left-hand side there were so many vegetable vendors on the roadside. We stopped there to buy some vegetables. Ohhhhh my God they were so freshhhh. I bout some Green Leaves (Dantina Soppu), Kohlrabi (Navil Kosu) and ladyfinger and it was very fresh. The next day when I prepared soppu (Green Leaves) it was really very tasty. Most of the vegetables are directly from the farm and it is very fresh.
The whole short trip was beautiful and memorable. Though the plan was so instant, we really enjoyed our Short trip and reached home by 2:00 p.m..
