What to See in the Kudremukh Region

Because much of the landscape is protected, every visit must follow current Forest Department rules, permitted routes and local safety instructions.
Kudremukh National Park
Kudremukh National Park protects an important Western Ghats landscape of evergreen forests, mountain streams, deep valleys and rolling grasslands. Visitors can experience the region along authorised roads and approved visitor routes, but entry into restricted forest areas is not permitted without the required permission.
Kudremukh Peak & Viewpoints
The mountain takes its name from a distinctive profile traditionally compared to a horse's face. Even without completing the peak trek, travellers can enjoy views of the surrounding ridges and grasslands from safe and permitted locations along the scenic route, subject to mist and visibility.
Hanuman Gundi Falls
Also known as Soormane Falls, this forest waterfall is reached through a stepped approach when the attraction is officially open. Entry can be affected by heavy rain, maintenance, water conditions or forest restrictions, so it should always be treated as a conditional stop.
Gangamoola
Gangamoola is an ecologically important location associated with the origins of the Tunga, Bhadra and Netravati rivers. It lies within a sensitive forest landscape, and a visit may require official permission, guided access and suitable walking conditions. Access cannot be guaranteed.
Kalasa
Kalasa is a small temple town surrounded by plantations, rivers and forested hills. It serves as a practical base for exploring Horanadu and the Kudremukh region, while Kalaseshwara Temple provides an important cultural stop during the journey.
Horanadu
Horanadu is best known for Sri Annapoorneshwari Temple and its setting among the green hills of the Western Ghats. The temple can become busy during weekends, festivals and holidays, so adequate time should be allowed for darshan and local traffic.
