Overview

Karnataka's Coast, Given a Fourth Day

This extended 4-day, 3-night version of our Gokarna & Murudeshwar trip is built for travellers who want more than a quick coastal weekend. It still covers the classic stops — the Mahabaleshwar Temple and Om Beach in Gokarna, and the giant Shiva statue and temple at Murudeshwar — but adds two genuinely different landscapes: the eerie black limestone spires of Yana, and Jog Falls, one of India's tallest tiered waterfalls, tucked into the Western Ghats a few hours inland.

The extra time also allows a scenic detour along the Karwar coastline, taking in Devbagh's quiet backwater beach and the Rabindranath Tagore Beach, plus a stop at Mirjan Fort, a 17th-century laterite fort linked to the region's historic pepper and spice trade. Together, these additions turn a quick beach-and-temple weekend into a fuller look at coastal Karnataka's caves, waterfalls, forts and shoreline.

Why Choose the Extended Trip

Why Choose This 4-Day Version?

One Short Trip also runs a shorter 2-3 day Gokarna & Murudeshwar package covering the coast's core temples and beaches. This extended version exists for travellers who want to add Yana's rock caves and Jog Falls without feeling rushed.

Yana Caves Included

The eerie black limestone spires and cave shrine at Yana, not part of our shorter Gokarna & Murudeshwar package.

Jog Falls Detour

One of India's tallest waterfalls, reached as a full side-trip from the coast.

Mirjan Fort Stop

A 17th-century laterite fort on the Karwar coast, linked to the historic spice trade.

Karwar Coastline

Devbagh's backwater beach and Rabindranath Tagore Beach, beyond Gokarna's own shoreline.

A More Relaxed Pace

Core Gokarna and Murudeshwar sights spread across the extra day rather than rushed into one.

Ideal for Nature & Heritage Lovers

Best suited to travellers who want caves, a waterfall and a fort alongside the coast.

Practical Info

Plan Your Trip

Accommodation Guide +
Two nights are spent in Gokarna and one night in Murudeshwar, chosen for proximity to each day's sightseeing — the Yana/Jog Falls day trip from Gokarna, and the coastal drive through Karwar toward Murudeshwar.
Transportation Guide +
Travel is by AC vehicle from Bengaluru throughout. The Yana Caves require a short walk from the parking area over uneven forest ground, and the Jog Falls viewpoint involves a flight of steps.
Meals Plan +
Meals as specified in the final package can be included — confirm the exact plan (breakfast, lunch, dinner) at the time of booking. Coastal Karnataka cuisine, including fresh seafood, is available at most stops.
Best Time to Visit +
October to March offers the most pleasant weather for beaches, temple visits and the Yana forest walk. Jog Falls itself is at its fullest during and just after the monsoon (July–September), though heavy rain can make the Yana trek slippery and unsafe during that period.

Avoid: Scheduling the Yana Caves walk immediately after heavy rain, when the rock paths become slick and unsafe.

Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Gokarna, Murudeshwar & Yana Caves Tour Package from Bangalore? +
It is a 4-day, 3-night version of our Gokarna & Murudeshwar trip that adds a full day trip to Yana Caves and Jog Falls, plus a coastal detour through Karwar and a stop at Mirjan Fort, alongside the core Gokarna and Murudeshwar sights.
How is this different from the regular Gokarna & Murudeshwar package? +
Our standard 2-3 day package covers the Mahabaleshwar Temple, Om Beach, and the Murudeshwar Shiva statue and temple. This 4-day version keeps those sights but adds an entire day for Yana Caves and Jog Falls, plus Karwar's beaches and Mirjan Fort.
Is the Yana Caves walk difficult?
It's a short, moderate forest walk over natural rock terrain — manageable for most fitness levels in dry weather, but the paths can be slippery after rain, so grippy closed footwear is recommended.
How far is Jog Falls from Yana Caves?
Roughly 90-100 km, about 2-2.5 hours by road through the Western Ghats, which is why Day 2 is planned as a full, early-start day covering both.
What is the best time to visit?
October to March offers the most pleasant weather for the beaches, temples and the Yana walk. Jog Falls is at its fullest just after the monsoon, but the Yana trek is best avoided during heavy rain.
Is it safe to swim at Gokarna and Karwar's beaches?
Swim only in designated, supervised areas — sea currents along this coast can be strong, especially away from the main beach stretches.
Do I need any special permits for Yana Caves or Jog Falls?
No special permits are required for general visitors; a nominal entry fee applies at both locations, which is not included in the package cost.
Is this package suitable for families and senior citizens?
Yes, though Day 2 involves a fair amount of walking and driving. Travellers with mobility concerns can skip the Yana forest walk while still enjoying Jog Falls from the main viewpoint.
What type of accommodation is provided?
Comfortable hotels on twin/triple sharing basis in Gokarna and Murudeshwar, chosen for convenient access to each day's sightseeing.
Are meals included?
Meals as specified in the final package can be included — confirm the exact plan (breakfast, lunch, dinner) at the time of booking.
Where can I get picked up from in Bengaluru?
Common pickup points include Banashankari, Silk Board, Electronic City, Marathahalli and Whitefield. Exact timing is confirmed closer to the trip date.
Can this trip be done during the monsoon?
It's possible, but the Yana Caves walk can become unsafe in heavy rain, and rough seas make swimming inadvisable — October to March remains the more reliable window for this itinerary.
