Faster Than a Minute
One of the oldest temples in Srirangapatna, this shrine is also known as the Jyothirmaheshwara (Shiva) and Vedhanayaki temple. Its presiding goddess, Kshanambika, is considered a form of Lalitha Maha Tripurasundari — and local belief holds she answers prayers in a kshana, or second, making her even swifter than the nearby Nimishamba, whose name promises answers within a minute.
The temple's central idol is believed to have been installed by the philosopher-saint Adi Shankaracharya. Though the shrine fell into neglect for years, it has since been restored by devotees and remains a quieter, less-visited counterpart to its better-known neighbour.
Because it sees far fewer visitors than the more prominent temples of Srirangapatna, Sri Kshanambika Temple offers a calmer, more contemplative darshan — a good stop for travelers who want to experience the town's spiritual side without the crowds that gather at Ranganathaswamy or Nimishamba.
